Hans Jürgen Hoffmann (HJH, born 1962) is associate professor at the Clinical Institute, Department of Respiratory Diseases, Aarhus University & Hospital, Denmark. He is chairman of the Danish Society for Flow Cytometry (term 2006 – 2012), and is consulting specialist for the Danish external quality assurance program in Denmark (2006 – to date) that tests instrument performance using fluorescent particles as well as clinical diagnosis on fresh blood. HJHs research focuses on basophil and mast cell biology and inflammation in the lung, and on diagnostic tests in respiratory medicine with and without flow cytometry. HJH is active in standardizing the Basophil activation test in a European context in the EuroBAT working group under the EAACI.

Programme as an elected ESCCA Board Member:
HJH has asked the board of ESCCA to widen the base of membership, and will work to effect this change, whilst continuing to emphasise good science as the base of the society. He is also interested in promoting the use and knowledge of the MiFlowCyt Standard for flow cytometry, which will improve on the standard of reporting of flow cytometric data.
